As we know, even the discussion of mental health in the African American community is considered taboo. Well, Shayla Paul and her staff involved with MAD Cave have set out to change the narrative. This program provides a safe, non judgemental environment for Men to discuss and deal with all areas of improving mental health. I personally have had struggles with mental illness and this program is a Godsent for the many people in need of these types of services. Jon R. Johnson.
I am grateful to be affliliated with an organization that’s geared to do as much good in the black community as MAD Cave is. Mental health is not something that is talked about enough in our communities, and as a young Black man, a lot of us keep a lot of things inside, simply because we feel there is no one there to listen. This organization will change that for a lot of people, and from the moment I met Ms. Shayla, I knew she was the perfect person to lead this. Conversations with her have given me more confidence in myself to pursue my own personal career goals and I’m so thankful for the influence she’s had on my thinking in just a short time of knowing her. With family like MAD Cave around, we learn how to be happy. That talk with Ms. Shayla did wonders for me. Thank you so much. Samuel “Tray” Darby, Jr.
